Rivermont Farm Horse Show Rules and Information
Below you will find the basic rules and information for all Rivermont Farm horse shows.
Daily Awards: Ribbons 1st thru 5th and Division Champion & Reserve in divisions.
TIP Classes: All of our classes will count towards the Thoroughbred Incentive Program and points will be turned into the Jockey Club. Daily ribbons (Champ and Reserve) are awarded in Jumpers, Crossrails and the 2'3" Division.
NO BACK NUMBERS WILL BE ISSUED until a blank check or cash is left with the show secretary and a signed release of liability MUST be left with the secretary as well. If you are paying with a debit or credit card that's fine, but we must have a blank check left at the show office if you're planning on paying at the end of the day or you must pay in advance with your card. It's just too hard for us to keep up with who still owes money otherwise. Thanks for understanding.
Refund Policy: Once you have checked in and received a back number, there will be NO CASH REFUNDS for any reason. However, should you scratch any classes due to illness or injury to horse or rider, you will be given a credit for that amount of classes to be used at a future Rivermont show. No credits for inclement weather unless show management cancels show. We have tried to be lenient on this policy but there were some people who were taking full advantage of us on this one, so we feel we're being very fair by offering a class credit at a future show. Thanks for understanding! :)
Stalls: Stalls are very limited so contact us at email@example.com to make reservations. Stall fees do include bedding and we ask you please clean your stall before leaving or pay a $10 stall cleaning fee.
Attire: Show jackets are optional all season. No preference is given to riders with jackets. Riders may ride in short or long sleeved collared shirt (polo type) or short sleeved show shirt. Breeches or jodphurs, boots and an ASTM are required. Pre-Beginner and leadline riders may ride in any attire, as long as they are wearing heeled boots and an ASTM helmet. Half chaps and paddock boots are also acceptable attire if you do not have a pair of tall boots.
Braiding is optional.
Bell boots and leg protection only allowed in Equitation and Jumper classes.
No standing martingales in flat classes. This rule may be waived for the beginner classes at the judges discretion.
Hackamores are not allowed in hunter or equitation classes. See USEF's website for full list of rules concerning appropriate tack. www.usef.org
Classes with less than 3 entries: We reserve the right to combine or cancel classes if there are insufficient entries.
Under Saddle classes with more than 10 entries: Large flat classes may be split for the safety of all riders.
Pre-Registration: Please do your best to pre-register before each show. Pre-registration is so important because we need to know how many entries to expect for many reasons. (i.e. so we'll know how much food to buy for the concession stand, and so we'll know how many entries to expect so we can let our judge know) Entries received after cut off will be charged a $10 per horse/rider combo late fee. Entries received after 3pm on Friday before the show will be charged a late entry fee.
Release of Liability: A sign release form must be on file with us in order for numbers to be released. Click here to print a copy, and please note that a parent MUST sign for a minor participant. The good news is we will only need a release signed one time this year, so once we have this on file you won't need to sign another until 2016.
Weather: Should weather be an issue, please check this website as we will announce here if a show has been cancelled or postponed due to weather. Another good reason to pre-register is I will contact everyone personally who has pre-registered if the show has been cancelled. Safety for horses and riders is ALWAYS our priority when making weather calls, so please understand if we decide to postpone a show due to inclement weather. You can also "like" the Rivermont Farm Facebook page as we constantly post horse show updates there as well.
Conduct: Any disrespect to horse show management, judges, officials, or anyone connected to the show in any way will be asked to leave the grounds with no money refunded. We're here to have fun!!! We ask that you do not approach the judge until the show is over. At that time the judge will usually be more than happy to give feedback!
Dogs: Please keep dogs on leashes at all times.
Coggins: A current negative coggins test is required.
Stallions: Stallions are allowed as long as they are VERY well behaved. However we do not allow stallions to enter any of the beginner rider classes for safety reasons.
Non Showing Horses: Must pay a $15 non showing fee. This is for folks who wish to bring a horse to "hang out" or school for the day.
***Show management reserves the right to make any changes to class list, rules, or anything pertaining to horse show. USEF rules are applied unless otherwise noted. See www.usef.org for rules.
Office Fee: All horse/rider combinations will be charged a $10 office fee.
Show Check In: Back numbers will not be issued until the release is signed and a check is left with the show office. If you plan on adding classes, we recommend leaving an open, signed check at the show office.
Rivermont reserves the right to cancel or postpone any horse show for any reason! This is ALWAYS a last resort for us, however sometimes weather can prevent us from hosting horse shows. Please always pre-register as early as possible so we'll know who's coming. Thanks!
