Starting in 2011 Rivermont is going to offer a sleep over "Horse Show Camp" for girls ages 8 to 16! This camp is designed for the serious horse enthusiast who desires to "tweak" up their showing skills while making memories to last a lifetime in the process! The camp is limited to no more than 7 girls. The week consist of a riding lesson in the morning, a fun casual ride in the afternoon with fun in between activities such as arts & crafts, cookouts, campfires, roasting marshmallows, movie/popcorn night, visits to local farms, and of course lessons on proper show braiding with yard, what the judge is looking for, "what exactly are the rules with USEF regarding your question", proper show grooming, proper show tack & attire, and emphasis on always keeping the right attitude in and out of the show ring! Lesson topics will include "Winning in the Hunter Ring", "Winning in the Jumper Ring", "Winning Equitation", and more. The girls will also learn more about daily farm life such as animal nutrition, barn management, gardening, caring for chickens and goats and so much more! Being that the camp will fall on a week prior to a Rivermont Farm horse show, the girls will learn what goes on behind the scenes as we prepare for a show. The week will wrap up with a horse show at
Rivermont so the girls will get to show off their skills in one of our
regular schooling horse shows! This show is part of our point
series and Susan Bowen will be judging. Your camp fees include
your horse show office fee as well as up to 4 classes. Any
additional classes you enter will be extra and you may either add those
classes on show day or include these class fees in your camp payment.
Camp officially wraps up Friday evening (however they will spend the
night here on Friday night), so they may go home whenever
they are ready on Saturday after showing!
